This page provides information about our Stage Lighting, Sound System and Stage Management at the EPPiC Theatre.
Stage Lighting
As is mentioned above, our lighting equipment came from various sources including auctions, donations, long term loans, rebuilds from scrap, etc.  All the units have been stripped and rebuilt and re-wired with replacement parts where necessary.  While not matching the performance of the latest 'state of the art' lanterns, ours which were manufactured mainly during the period 1960 to 1995.are perfectly adequate for our needs and they are a interesting resource for anyone interested in older stage lighting instruments.  We would like to thank all organisations and individuals who have donated lighting equipment over the years.
The Control System
The lighting system is controlled by a Strand 200 series 48 channel digital DMX console with a flat screen monitor to display channel, submaster and effects data.  A further 12 auxiliary dimmers are controlled by a single preset analogue control desk.  There are 6 switch controlled stage sockets.
The Technical Section
The dimmers are 'Strand 6Pack'.  They are wall mounted 3m above the stage left side on a purpose made gantry platform.  Access to the gantry is through a doorway in the upstairs coffee lounge.
The Lanterns
This is a list of our stage lighting instruments.  Lanterns rated under 500 watts are in black text, 500 or 600 watt units are in blue text and 1000 watt units are in red text.
The dimmers have 15amp socket outlets which allows us to patch lights to channels as required and add other equipment quickly and easily.

Other Lighting Equipment
As well as the lanterns EPPiC Theatre has the following permanently rigged items:
10 Way Chaser
3 UV Strip-lights
6 Colour change wheels
Follow spot (Zero88 Focus 650)
2  Mirror Balls with Motors
To cope with the electrical demands of this equipment the EPPiC Theatre has a Three Phase Electricity Supply.
The lantern hanging positions follow the usual format for a proscenium stage.  1 FOH bar, 4 FOH auditorium side wall bars and 3 FOH auditorium rear wall bars.  Above the stage are 5 spot bars and 2 battens.  In the wings stage left is a side bar running upstage to downstage.

If you would like a demonstration of the lighting system, our lighting designer would be happy to arrange an EPPiC Theatre technical tour.  The tours are interesting for anyone who does not know how theatre lighting works or what can be achieved using different lanterns.  The tour which takes about 45 minutes includes a visit to the dimmer gantry and you can take control of the lighting console and see your lighting design appear.  Usually we can provide a technical tour during a Saturday Coffee Morning but ring us so that we can confirm our Lighting Designer is able to attend.  Tours at any other time are strictly by prior arrangement.
The Sound System
The sound system in the theatre is primarily a means of producing sound effects for the productions.  Because our theatre is small and has very good acoustic properties, it is not usually necessary to use microphones to enhance the volume of voices.  It is possible to use hand held microphones connected by trailing leads, or we have a radio mike receiver and a hand held radio microphone.
Our system comprises of:
2 Carlsbro Alpha 12 speakers on the proscenium arch facing the audience
2 Celestion TS575H speakers on the rear stage wall for sounds 'on stage'
Spirit Folio mixer desk - 6 mono and 2 stereo inputs, 2 x +48V Phantom Powered microphones
Hearing Loop
Carlsbro CPX300 stereo amplifier

Stage Manager's Corner
Situated stage left the stage manager has control of the working lights and main curtain.
The stage curtain is electrically wound requiring only a push of a button to complete the task. The working lights are 6 x150 watt floodlights which can be pre-switched to 3 groups of 2 to ensure that only the lights behind scenery or tab lines come on between scenes.
2 way communications via headsets is maintained with the lighting/sound control room personnel.
